BLACKIE DARKIE DAY

BLACKIE DARKIE DAY One Monday morning, I entered the class in a black attire and the whole atmosphere was cheerful as we were discussing about the black attire we all wore. The lecturer entered, dull colours of black and drew smiles on our faces because it was a black moment without sorrow. This happens to be an interesting class until a lady entered with odd colours not relating to black. The make-up on her face reflected rainbow colours on the white wall of the class as she sat on the first seat in the class.  Mavis Edinam Akakpo. BACS27195

WE ARE FUN

Its another customised Monday with the creative writers. Adorned in the beauty and uniqueness of Africa.  The serious smiles on their faces strike a resemblance with an extended family at a gathering.  What do they even call it? Yes!! Kaba and Sleet. Africans are humorous but Ghanaians are comedians.  A real therapy for the depressed. But that is just it,  what we really are,  A carefree continent with lovely people.  Not bothered by what has come or can come. What do we do???? We just live life, feel life and enjoy life. CONTENTMENT VRS THE GEN ZEE

Contentment,  a word many fail to understand and apply. It is always not enough. What is it? Money?, Fame?, name it. It is not always enough. The neglect and ignorance of contentment has conceived the extravagant satisfaction of wants in today's youth. JENNIFER NAA AMARTEIFIO  INDEX NUMBER :BACS27155

I AM AFRICAN

Being adorned  with the beauty of Africa, she looked African; the skin, the scarf, the wear and the smile; She is African.  Representing her continent and what it stands for, not even the white man's shoe could alter the definition of uniqueness she portrayed African to be.  This Is a mother and that is my motherland.  This was the beauty of Africa, the day I turned 15 , I accepted I was African. I had always wanted a miracle to say I was Asian; because why not?;  I didn't like anything we did; it was like we didn't want to dance to the worlds tune. The past 5 years of my life has been nothing but accepting who I am, where I'm from and where I live. Noe i dread nothing more than speaking Ill of my continent.  I just can't wait to see more, eat more and feel more of who I really am. JENNIFER NAA AMARTEIFIO  INDEX NUMBER: BACS27155

RAIN💦

The rain against  the expectation Rags all above The futile effect to escaping drench and  A frown accompanied by intermittent squeeze Yey Yey I say , The resemblance with Cinderella before the ball was key. JENNIFER NAA AMARTEIFIO  INDEX NUMBER: BACS27155

PILL

The shame of mal The pain of the pill, With a frown and the pinch of my nose  A fierce battle in my gut. JENNIFER NAA AMARTEIFIO  INDEX NUMBER :BACS27155

STRENGTH OF A WOMAN.

NAME: ASAMOAH SANDRA ABOAGYEWAAH INDEX NUMBER: BACS27098                                                    STRENGTH OF A WOMAN. Stressed brains, Frustrated minds, And there goes a "woman" Sleepless night, Hopes high  And there goes an unappreciative "lover" So neglected by a "lover"  A woman still thrives to stand  But why ? Young ones asks Yes, G eneration needs a "WOMAN" Not loved , not cared for  Here goes a "Mother" Of course, A feminist I am.

Streets of our homeland.

In Ghana's vibrant streets , voices swell A cacophony of stories , tales to tell But on the din, some struggle to be heard Lost in the tunnel , their whimpers blurred Yet in the clamor, there lies power ,  A strength un unity, hour by hour If harnessed wisely, voices can uplift  Breaking barriers  ,closing the rift!.  And there we have the streets of thrift. JEFFERSON OWUSU AFRIYIE  BACS27111.

The Africa in Ghana.

Who says we're  dumb  Have you checked our proverbs? Who says we're uncivilised  Have you checked our customs like Biragro? Who says we're ugly  Have you seen our beautiful women, their flawless skin dressed in traditional apparel wearing a glittering crystal smile? Who says we're malnourished  Have you tasted "Brode3 ampesie ne konromire abomu a yagye nko de koobi ne nkate3 atwi mu"? Who says we're not peaceful  The sight of our tourist can refresh your soul . With all these,  you must be joking to tell me there's beauty in westernization.  To me , AFRICANITY IS PURE SANITY.  JEFFERSON OWUSU AFRIYIE  BACS27111.

She's a beaded African.

"Sankofa , Yenkyiri " while they say culture looks outmoded in the Gen Z, I choose to be unique but not old says Daavi Stephanie . Clothed in the ancient African cloth with modernised jewellery she sparkle. Huhh..Nokwasem Ahwenepa Enkasa. JEFFERSON OWUSU AFRIYIE  BACS27111.

What a semester it'll be.

A call from a friend, I woke up . A call from a mate. I set off. "Stop dozing" A call from my lecturer.   JEFFERSON OWUSU AFRIYIE  BACS27111.

What is Black?

Black. To most people , black is a colour,  I say Black is an expression not obsession.  I wear black to read meaning into my day . A classy day is Black, a traditional day is Black because I'm Black and proud. A calm day is Black and not necessarily being in the dark. JEFFERSON OWUSU AFRIYIE  BACS27111.

Blackie Darkie.

In a room of black costumes, Opanin Dabiasem chose to wear a black head-tie. Now , I stand in awe, wondering why would a "he" of all black stylings choose to wear a head wrap ? Is he honoring ancestral traditions because he's called Opanin? Is he paying homeage to the cultural diversity of blacks ? Or could it be he's a rasterfarien? I approached to quench my curiosity  and to my outburst dismay , he's covering his nakedness in his own words. He's bald and shy to be bald at such a tender age.  Hahh... indeed people do have reasons for their makeup. JEFFERSON OWUSU AFRIYIE.  BACS27111.

Black

Occasions with black are said to be dark, making it irrelevant to wear a shirt that's black. But the fact is,black defines me,it establishes a beautiful tom-tom in me that, not even being negro can rage against. Diame Precious  BACS27435

BLUE

Name : Ethel Naadu Lartey Index : BACS27059 Date : 03/06/2024 Wavy and bubbly surrounding the face of the earth with its natural colour which inspired the shade blue. It can be perilous and calm at its own pace with the help of the wind.It is the abode of many creatures we know of and others that we have never heard or do not think exist. I call it a world of its own just like having the land with its inhabitants. It naturally despise filth and diabolic things hence, it brings them out when they find their way in. It is called the BEACH from the shore side where, humans enjoy the cool breeze and the smooth white sand with memories. It is called the SEA, right after the beach where fishermen cast their nets fishing in canoes. And then called, the OCEAN where captains sail using ships to connect other countries. Naturally blue from the shore to the deepest part which only reminds Ghanaians of SLAVE TRADE in Gold Coast.

She left..

I say morning  Because I'm mourning, Old rage has ravished my heart Making me,feel like not writing  This poem at all. Hah,such a despicable manner Of showing my grief. Phew..she left without a goodbye, Leaving my soul in solitude. Against the walls of my body,I cry out for relief..... She left . Diame Precious  BACS27435

Power Of Beads.

Name : Ethel Naadu Lartey Index : BACS27059 Date : 20/05/2024 The display of royalty on the head, ownership around the wrist, beautiful around the  neck, and a natural waist snatcher around a woman's waist. It is what we cannot throw away but hold them tight around our ankles.  Without beads, there is a missing piece of me which makes me feel the rhythmic tunes of Kpalogo, adowa and  borborbor in my spirit. It takes me back to days of Homowo  and the love for culture remains untouched.

BLACK!
